Google Chrome – Manage or Delete Cache and Browsing History
You can delete all or part of your browsing history and cached data in Google Chrome.
If you are signed in to Chrome and have sync enabled, changes may apply across all synced devices.
Instructions for Computers (Windows, macOS, Linux)
View Your Browsing History
Chrome stores up to 90 days of browsing history. History does not include:
- Incognito mode activity
- Secure pages you’ve already removed
- Deleted history items
Steps:
- Click the three‑dot menu (⋮) in the top‑right corner.
- Click History.
- Click History again.
Shortcut:
- Windows/Linux: Ctrl + H
- Mac: ⌘ + Y
Clear All Browsing History and Cache
- Click the three‑dot menu (⋮).
- Select History → History.
- Click Clear browsing data (left side or top right).
- From the Time rangedropdown, select:
- Last hour
- Last 24 hours
- Last 7 days
- Last 4 weeks
- All time (clears everything)
- Check the items you want to remove:
- ✅ Browsing history
- ✅ Cached images and files (recommended for troubleshooting)
- (Optional) Cookies and site data
- Click Clear data.
Delete Specific History Items
- Open History (Ctrl+H / ⌘+Y).
- Use the search bar at the top to find entries if needed.
- Check the box next to individual websites.
- Click Delete at the top.
- Confirm when prompted.
Remove Site Thumbnails from the New Tab Page
- Open a New Tab.
- Hover over a site tile.
- Click the X (Remove) in the top‑right corner of the tile.

View Browsing History
- Tap the three‑dot menu (⋮).
- Tap History.
Clear Browsing History and Cache
- Tap the three‑dot menu (⋮).
- Tap History.
- Tap Clear browsing data….
- Select a Time range (choose All time to clear everything).
- Ensure Browsing history and Cached images and files are checked.
- Uncheck other options if you want to keep them.
- Tap Clear data.
Delete Specific History Items
- Tap Menu (⋮) → History.
- Tap the X next to an entry to remove it individually.
Remove New Tab Page Thumbnails
- Open a New Tab.
- Touch and hold a site tile.
- Tap Remove.

- Tap the three‑dot menu (⋯) at the bottom.
- Tap History.
Clear Browsing History and Cache
- Tap Menu (⋯) → History.
- Tap Clear Browsing Data.
- Select Browsing History and Cached Images and Files.
- Tap Clear Browsing Data.
- Confirm your choice.
- Tap Done.
Delete Specific History Items
- Tap Menu (⋯) → History.
- Swipe left on an entry or tap Edit.
- Tap Delete.
Remove New Tab Page Thumbnails
- Open a New Tab.
- Touch and hold the site tile.
- Tap Remove.

Click History and recent tabs
History.
- Check the box next to each webpage that you want to remove from your History.
- At the top of the page, click the button Remove selected items.
- A confirmation box will appear. Click Remove.
Remove specific thumbnails from New Tab page
To see your most frequently visited sites, open a New Tab page. To remove a thumbnail, hover over it and click the X in the top-right corner.

Your History page shows the websites you've visited on Chrome in the last 90 days. It doesn’t store pages from secure websites, those you've visited in incognito mode, or those you've already deleted from your browsing history.

Clear all of your history

- At the bottom, tap Clear Browsing Data.
- Check the box next to "Clear browsing history." It may be checked by default.
- Uncheck any other boxes you don't want to delete.
- Tap Clear.

You can manually delete parts of your history. To search for something specific, use the search bar at the top.
